1980 - Retailing was introduced by Radhakrishna Textiles. Retailing was introduced due to high customer requests giving exclusive focus to ladies garments. The immense feedback from the customers regarding the quality and cost of the products made us turn to retailing. In the year 1955 our founder Mr N Boothalingam (age 25) from Nagercoil hailing to traditional weaver family widely known as saliyar caste established Radhakrishna Textiles. He is the son of Mr Nainar who was widely known for his Kaithari weaving skills. Mr Boothalingam was the 3rd eldest in the family from the very young age he has shown exceptional skills towards the family weaving business. To expand the family business and to introduce the Kaithari art to other states he travelled to Kochi at the age of 25 and was the first and youngest Kaithari textiles trader in Kochi and Kerala. In his initial days he created and introduced Kaithari works to Kochi by introducing the products through door to door. This created a good acceptance of Kaithari in Kochi. Later he rented out a 150sq ft shop in market road and started wholesale of Kaithari products which gave birth to Radhakrishna Textiles.
Shri. N. Boothalingam
To expand the business and introduce more he travelled across to Erode and brought in textiles such as lungi, kaili, kavi bed sheets, towels etc directly from the manufacturers to Ernakulam market and this was the first time that the concept of textiles wholesale was introduced in Ernakulam market. The revolutionary breakthrough of Radhakrishna Textiles made new traders also enter into textiles wholesale business and thus, the empty streets of market road was flooded with textiles traders.
